Wout Weghorst is set to leave Manchester United in the summer and not make his loan deal permanent despite receiving good praise from manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch striker is currently on loan at Old Trafford from Burnley after arriving at the club in the January window.

The big striker was deemed as a short-term fix by many after Cristiano Ronaldo left at the end of last year but there were rumours that he could make his stay permanent after Ten Hag openly praised Weghorst.

“He defends, he recovers balls, he presses. In the second half, we were better at pressing and he is the first to do it, he does it very well.” the manager said.

“I think he brings a lot to the team. From the moment he came, the attacking line is more dynamic and even better at pressing. So I think we improved our game from the moment he came in.”

According to Football Insider, however, the club are not planning on handing the 30-year-old a contract.
