Antonio Conte will reportedly be given a considerable amount of transfer funds as Daniel Levy bids to turn Tottenham’s fortunes around.
Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United left Spurs ninth in the Premier League table, ten points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
The poor results and even worse football clearly became too tough to stomach for Levy, and the fans alike, with Nuno Espirito Santo having been sacked on Monday morning.
It fast became clear that Antonio Conte would be the man to replace him.
While some may think Conte’s mad to have accepted the Tottenham job, especially in the midst of such a bad run, he will reportedly be given cash to splash in the transfer market in a bid to get the engines firing.
As per The Sun, Conte’s ‘war chest’ count amount to as much as £150m, which ought to be enough to acquire the necessary system players to ease the transition into his favoured 3-4-3.
The concern from Spurs fans’ perspective will be that, as is mentioned in the report, Conte is understood to be signing on for just 18 months.
The jury’s out on whether it’s a good idea to give a manager that much money to spend on the squad when he’s only going to be contracted to ONE full season in charge…
