Speaking to Louis Theroux the former heavyweight champion revealed his reasons for his astonishing post-fight antics.
βIt was like βThese (belts) donβt even mean anything anyway, yeah what?β I ainβt got them and because I ainβt got them, they donβt mean anything. Right or wrong, Iβve thrown them because thatβs what I felt like. I grabbed the mic and addressed the crowd, could I have done it better? Of course I could have.β

βI had just finished a 12-round fight and I felt frustrated and annoyed. I knew I was out of the title race and the questions started, βWhat is he like, where is his head at?β, all of this βCan he be three-time champion of the world?β People now create this narrative and put pressure on me, itβs too much. Gone are the days when it was for the fun, when you are just doing it for the passion and you are a prospect.β
Since the back-to-back Usyk defeats Joshua has returned to winning ways beating both Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius.
