  1. Agree with Brian. My initial reaction is to disagree at least a little, but it’s hard. Lol. Love that they put Lennox Lewis and Evander on here. Maybe Jack Dempsey? The thing is it’s hard to displace anyone already listed. I may take some guff but would put Lewis above Ali. Just barely! Great list.

    1. Glad to see Evander in there. If he had stayed at light heavy or cruiserweight he might be the GOAT in those weight classes. No one would have cared much. Those weight classes hardly exist anymore.

    2. Ali hasn’t been knocked out in 56 fights, lennox has in 42 fights,Mr statistic analyser.

    1. “How is it Rocky Marciano undefeated ,beat Joe Lewis is third ?”
Joe Louis was WAY past his prime when that happened.
Besides: Though it is impressive, I would not put too much into this ‘being undefeated’. If Marciano had continued boxing, he would eventually have been beaten, perhaps multiple times.
Another statistic: Joe Louis had 66 wins, Marciano had 49.

      1. You defeated your argument- You can’t cherry pick a boxer’s prime- they continue because they think they will win. And you can presume when one fighter will lose- they win and lose all on their own, all for different reasons. You can’t tell me that Joe Louis had 17 more substantial fights. So if Rocky kept fighting and lost- he should move up because it was past his prime???? That is a poor excuse for your picks. I could argue many but boxing is ‘Era conscious”- but Mr. Herrmann has a point because it is in the ring- he beat him, he never lost, he was the champ- on that one, no excuses.

    2. The reason is because although Rocky Marciano was undefeated, he beat all the greats pass there prime. Joe Louis and several other heavyweights were well past there prime.

    3. It was joe’s end of his career when he fought Rocky. Rocky was in his prime. joe was old and ready to retire when they fought.

    1. Ali defeated more Great Fighters than any other Boxer in history, Liston, Patterson, Williams, Terrell, Frazier, Foreman, and Norton. Plus, the years that should have been his prime were stolen from us. He also Called the round in which he would KO his opponent. Probably the Greatest athlete Of All Times.

    2. Diseased physically, they just know they can’t match him in health, he’s never been knocked out though.

  2. Marciano’s unbeaten record was achieved against boxing bums and aging greats. He beat a geriatric Joe Louis who was way past his prime, a virtual centenarian in Archie Moore and Father Time Jersey Joe Walcott who was actually winning their fight on points before he was floored. The only fighter of any consequence in his prime that Marciano fought and won was Ezzard Charles. Too much is made of Marciano’s contrived unbeaten record. I believe he is fortunate to be so high on this list, if on it at all.

  3. Great list. Ali was most definitely the best, they said the knock out king Liston would knock him out he didn’t, they said big hitting Foreman would knock him out he didn’t. He would have done same to Tyson.
If Tyson couldn’t knock his opponent out inside five rounds he was done. I thought Lenox could have been rated maybe four.

  4. Jack Dempsey has to be top 10…and back then they fought what like every week or so…At least give him the Iron Man award for Boxing.

  5. Holyfield has a win against 4 of the fighters on this list yet he’s not in it? Make it make sense. The greatest fighter Tyson ever beat was a 38 yr old Holmes who was 2yrs out of retirement.

  6. Remove Tyson and replace him with Jersey Joe Walcott. Tyson’s wins were fixed by Don King. Tyson lost all of his non-fixed fights.

  7. Okay, Muhamad Ali, was not only a great fighter, but he also had charisma and was an entertainer. Yet, I see a lot of people here disrespecting Rocky Marciano and saying he only boxed opponents that were way past their prime. While there might be some truth to that it does not diminish the fact that during his career he went 49 and 0 with 40 TKO”s. Were all of his opponents “bums” or too old and past their glory days? I don’t think so. I also think Joe Frazier should be on that list.

    1. Bowe was a good heavyweight but NOT an all time great. Good power in both hands and an iron chin but he became lazy and overconfident. This was his undoing.

  8. Not a Bad List. I would’ve probably substituted SONNY LISTON for Evander Holyfield but no real complaint.

  9. I believe that Larry Holmes should be in the Top 10 but I DO NOT THINK he should be ranked higher than Mike Tyson!!!

  10. Mike Tyson 86 to 89 was his peak and the only time in his career he could have still been at his best
When he was Kid Dynamite he was so calculated and accurate, fast and a bomber
He was a faster man in the same way Roy Jones jr was his biggest weapon when he won the title
The night he beat Berbick he’d have beaten anyone
Young and yet to achieve, he’d set about any Boxer that way because that’s the way he fights
At 219lb he was short compared to the evolving size of heavyweights, powerfully built
Ali in comparison weighed 210lb and was slenderly built
    Marciano was 186lb
    Boxing is evolving
    Everything gets better
Boxing can’t be the only thing to beat evolution and Boxers not get better
Kelly Pavlik told me it’s very easy
    Leonard would outbox Robinson
    Roy Jones would beat Leonard
Boxing gets better by decade he said
Evolution keeps our sports greats in the past and different times
    1) Tyson
    2) Ali
    3) Foreman
    4Lewis
    5) Holmes
    6) Klitchko
    7) Frazier
    8) lyfield
    9) Klitchko
    10) Liston

  11. People say Tyson and Marciano didn’t beat anyone who wasn’t a bum or old. Who did Larry Holmes beat that wasn’t in one of these categories. I don’t believe he should make this list. Can’t remember any exciting fights by him. Can think of many others like some have already argued that deserve it more. I have no issue with any of the other names on the list. At least Tyson and Rocky beat the hell out of people. I don’t recall Holmes being exciting in any way ever

  12. The only significant disagreement I have is the inclusion of Joe Frazier. How about Ken Norton?

  14. I think rating need be done base on the wave each made, aside from Muhammad Ali, no boxer in the 20th century/21st century has pulled more attention and ovation than Tyson

  15. Before I saw this list I tried to mentally make a top 10 list and it was pretty much same as their own, but in a different order.
I think I’ll place mine like this:
    1. Muhammed Ali
    2. Joe Louis
    3. Rocky Marciano
    4. Jack Johnson
    5. Lennox Lewis
    6. George Foreman
    7. Evander Holyfield
    8. Mike Tyson
    9. Larry Holmes
    10. Joe Frazier
    11. Sonny Liston
