Kevin De Bruyne expected to reject new Manchester City contract

According to The Times Kevin De Bruyne is growing concerned over the lack of urgency with his new contract and is expected to reject City’s first offer as he feels his status as the best player in the league should be reflected in his pay.

De Bruyne still has two-and-a-half years on his current deal but the Belgian international is looking to secure a pay increase to add to his current £280,000-a-week salary.

It is reported that De Bruyne is reportedly set to reject Manchester City’s first and according to The Times, De Bruyne is disappointed by the offer and is likely to turn it down.

Despite being branded the best player in the league De Bruyne earns quite a bit less than other big earners in the Premier League such a David de Gea and Mesut Ozil, who earn £375,000 and £350,000 a week respectively.

De Bruyne joined City in August 2015 on a six-year contract for a reported club-record fee of £55 million (€75 million).

Since joining the 29-year-old has made 468 appearances for the Manchester side scoring 107 goals along the way.
