Alfie Haaland has confirmed that his son is currently in the hospital receiving treatment for a groin injury.

The Norwegian striker has been in sensational form this season, scoring 42 goals in all competitions, exceeding the already lofty expectations placed on his shoulders.

But despite his ruthless nature in front of goal, Manchester City is second in the table behind a young and hungry Arsenal team.

The Gunners are eight points clear but City has a game in hand against Liverpool but may have to do without Erling Haaland after the latest injury update.

Haaland’s father revealed that his son is in a Barcelona hospital with a groin injury and will be ‘touch and go’ for the Liverpool clash.

“Firstly, I’m not a doctor and secondly, I think it’s ‘touch and go’ [to face Liverpool],” Alfie Haaland told TV2.

“You can’t just go two weeks without training and then jump right into a fight.

“There must be a progression there. They (Man City) can gamble on it, but if he doesn’t get proper training with the team, then he won’t play. It is about how he responds to treatment in the next few days.

“He needs a lot of care and ‘knuckling’. There are many sprints and there is a lot to move.”

With only a handful of games left in the season, an injury to the Norwegian striker will be pivotal in the title race.
