The discussion on ‘who is the greatest ever’ causes much debate with usual suspects like Muhammad Ali being mentioned.
But in a recent podcast appearance, Tyson, reacted to a picture of himself with the legendary Cus D’Amato, and said his trainer was right when he told a young ‘Iron’ Mike he would become the best of all time.
He said:
“He was right. I’m the greatest ever. In order to be a master, you first have to be a fool and make mistakes. Don’t get discouraged, it’s so easy to get discouraged and give up. Nothing came easy for me, but I didn’t give up.”
Tyson ended his career with 50 wins and 6 defeats. The 56 year old was last in action against Roy Jones in an exhibition bout in 2020.
