Manchester City is not going down without a fight and is willing to pay an absurd amount of money to defend FFP allegations in court.
The footballing world was left shocked when it was revealed earlier this week that Manchester City was being charged with over 100 breaches of financial rules in an investigation that dates back four years.
The accusations themselves were not surprising but the intent behind the investigation and the punishments, if found guilty, could be unprecedented.
But the Manchester club denied all accusations in a statement released by the club and is set to fight this tooth and nail. They have brought on a special lawyer to give themselves the best chance.
Lord Pannick KC of Blackstone Chambers, will be representing the club for a second time after helping them fight back against financial misconduct accusations from UEFA in 2020.
But he doesn’t come cheap and is rumoured to earn up to £10,000 per hour.
🚨 Manchester City are set to hire Lord Pannick KC, one of Boris Johnson’s Partygate lawyers, to help defend the club against the Premier League.
He typically charges £5,000-a-hour but could charge City £80,000-a-day or £400,000-a-week if it goes to trial.
