“It took me 20 seconds” – Tyron Woodley on agreeing to fight Jake Paul for the second time

Tyron Woodley has revealed it took just 20 seconds for him to agree to fight Jake Paul for a second time.

Woodley, who lost to Paul by a split decision on the scorecards earlier in the year, tried his utmost to get the YouTuber to agree to a rematch – and failed.

Paul instead set his sights on fighting Tommy Fury, a bout which was pencilled in for December 18th before Tyson’s half-brother pulled out with a broken rib.

Upon announcing that the fight was off, Paul had already struck terms with Woodley to step in and fight on that same date, thus avoiding jeopardising the card.

Unsurprisingly, Woodley has revealed that he jumped at the chance to step in the ring with Paul and have a second bite at the cherry, as is reported by The Sun:

“When I got the call about this fight I had already been training and had in my mind that I was going to fight four times next year.”

“I was already getting battle-ready for a fight in January. It took me 20 seconds to say yes and now we’re here.”

“Things happened the way they were supposed to happen. This is the fight that should have taken place anyway. More people were excited for this fight. These things happen for a reason.”

“Very few times do you get a chance to go back and redo something that’s already done. You often have regrets about how a fight went and now I get a chance to undo them. That really drives me.”

Woodley deserves credit for taking the fight on such short notice. Paul does too. Having already beaten Woodley, he is taking a rather unnecessary risk by fighting him again.

It is also noteworthy that Woodley was already in camp for a fight that was due to take place in January. We’re interested to see what he’s been working on behind the scenes…
