A woman has said that she is still in shock following racist abuse she suffered while putting a Kerry flag on her car.
Beverley, who is originally from South Africa, was putting a Kerry flag on her car in Tralee when she and her Irish husband Dermot were subjected to verbal abuse by a passer-by.
The man told her to get her “filthy hands” off the flag.
Beverley has been living in Ireland for 15 years and has Irish citizenship and although shocked by the incident, she said it will not stop her supporting the Kerry team.
“Everybody came to a standstill,” she said. “They thought maybe we had the argument with him.
“We did not. He was the one who had a problem with us, over me handling the flag.
“We just left here. We got into the car and we were shocked.”

Donal O’Leary, Chairman of Kerry Supporters Club, condemned the abuse and said it did not reflect the views of the majority of Kerry supporters.
We would be very much against racism,” O’Leary told Radio Kerry this afternoon. “We value everybody.
“They are welcome to come and wear the green and gold. We’d have no problem with that.”
