Dundalk are a win away from securing an eighth consecutive season of European football.

First-half goals from Sean Murray and Jordan Flores gave them a 2-1 win away to Derry City this evening.

Dundalk made it consecutive wins on the road for the first time this season after beating Derry City at the Brandywell.

Dundalk started the brighter with David McMillan striking wide from a good move that ended with him sweeping a shot off target however it would be 1-0 in the 7th minute.

A wonderful run from Greg Sloggett allowed him to create space and laid it off to Sean Murray who powered the ball home.

Stefan Colovic fired a beautiful volley just wide of the post moments later however it would be 2-0 from the goal kick.

A mix up between two former Lilywhites Peter Cherrie and Conor Clifford let Jordan Flores in to finish brilliantly past the goalkeeper.

Three minutes later though it was game on once again, Aaron McCarey was caught out when he came for Adam Hammill’s free kick with Ciaran Coll getting a header in that was blocked on the line by David McMillan but Darren Cole fired home the rebound.

The win means Dundalk remain third in the SSE Airtricity League table on 25 points, four points ahead of fourth place Waterford.
