Dana White took to social media on Saturday night to brag about an extremely profitable bet he placed on Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant.
Canelo knocked Plant out to become the first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion of the world. The Mexican headed into the bout as the firm favourite and there were no surprises on the night.
Dana White, who really ought to have been focusing on the UFC card he’d put together, was instead spotted watching Canelo school Plant and was seemingly ignoring the action that unfolded in the octagon.

White later provided some insight into why his attention was elsewhere, with the UFC chief having punted $100k on Canelo to win the fight by knockout, a bet which secured him $40k profit.
It’s hard to argue with White’s decision to place the bet after he ended the night $40k up, but it is rather questionable to be staking $100k on a fight which isn’t the one he arranged, in his organisation, which was taking place just yards away.
