Video: Scott McTominay proved he is an absolute savage after his reaction to Daniel James goal against Southampton

Manchester United woke up this morning having matched the Premier League record for most goals scored in a single game after they destroyed Southampton last night.

It’s the second time in two seasons the Saints have been battered 9-0 after Leicester City handed down the humiliation in October of 2019.

When you’re 9-0 up it’s pretty much certain you’re going to win the game and some players may relax and take their foot off the gas but not Scott McTominay.

A clip of the Scottish midfielder was shared on Twitter which shows the 24-year-old shouting at Dan James to go again and start hunting for a 10th.

There were only 25 seconds remaining of additional time and in the clip you can clearly see the midfielder urging James to grab the ball out of the net so the match could restart quickly.

United hold the original record having put nine past Ipswich way back in 1995 but what went wrong for Southampton?

Well, that’s simple, Alexandre Jankewitz is the answer but he’s not entirely to blame as Southampton fell victim to their second record-matching defeat of the season.

The 19-year-old Swiss midfielder was sent off after only 79 seconds which ultimately triggering the collapse for Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side and led United to their staggering victory.

Scorers on the night for the Red Devils were Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Bednarek (OG), Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial with twi, Scott McTominay with Bruno Fernandes & Daniel James with goals late on.

The result sees Olé Gunnar Solskjaer’s men go join top of the Premier League with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City with City having the luxury of two games in hand.
