City were awarded a penalty in injury time after Kevin de Bruyne was taken down by the Brighton goalkeeper.

Raheem Sterling was the man to step up and unfortunately for him the 26-year-old got his angles all wrong and smashed the ball over the crossbar.

The miss wasn’t too costly though as City went on to win the game thanks to a beautiful goal by 20-year-old Phil Foden in the firs-half.

The win sees City move into third spot in the Premier League – four points off leaders Manchester United with Guardiola’s men holding a game in hand.

The title race is wide open as no one team has managed to clinch a healthy lead and it’s anyones game with the next big crunch game coming next Sunday when second place Liverpool welcome Manchester United to Anfield.
