Ireland are playing Wales in the final game of this weekend Six Nations fixtures and Ireland are down to 14 men inside the first 15 minutes and it’s all because of Peter O’Mahony’s dangerous clear out but was it the right call?
Peter O’Mahony was given his marching orders after a clear out on Tomas Francis was reviewed by the TMO and on review it was deemed dangerous contact with the head. He goes in at speed and doesn’t seem to wrap but everything looks worse in slow motion.
Wayne Barnes was incredibly certain in real time that it was a fair clear out and couldn’t be avoided as Tomas Francis complained but as soon as it was slowed down by the TMO they officials were left with no choice.
Robbie Henshaw has now taken O’Mahony’s place in the scrum as the pack is a man down and Keith Earle has moved into centre.
