A proud moment for Cobh Pirates Edwin Edogbo as he made his debut for Ireland on Saturday afternoon against the Italians at a sold out Aviva Stadium on the south side of Dublin city centre.
But wouldn’t you know it, there were a few idiots online that the Irish Rugby social media account had to turn off the comments. Absolute scumbags and the lowest of the low these people, we look forward to seeing Edwin Edogbo get many more caps for his country in the coming years.
They had to turn off the comments and hide comments because the racists came out of the woodwork. https://t.co/vDPgCdoUO5

So disheartening and grim that Munster & Ireland's social teams have had to turn comments off on posts regarding Edwin Edogbo's Test debut 😤
Massive day for Edwin, on Sat, and for all his friends + family🍀
Really hope such disgraceful comments don't take too much away from it pic.twitter.com/fC4B9X8pUK— Pat McCarry (@patmccarry) February 15, 2026
Here are some of the comments online ..
I hope he can get some needed words of encouragement and wisdom from Simon Zebo as a fellow Munster man who has experienced similar vile attacks in the past.
Looked up one guy, he was in Argentina. X is a cesspit. Vast majority of people delighted and happy for him. Don’t give trolls the attention they crave.I reported numerous racist comments on both posts – X came back saying “no violation found” on every single report. It’s an absolute cesspool of an appIreland is proud of Edwin Edogbo. The racists are Ireland’s shame.

He has great potential. I hope he gets opportunities to achieve it.
Delighted to have Edwin. May he have many years of happy memories playing for Ireland. – Proud Ireland supporter
Proud
Check the profile of the racist comments you will find a lot of them are not from irish fans
Vast majority were northern Irish protestants.
We are a mixed Race Colour Nation and proud Irish People From James Connolly to Edwin Edobgo do not forget that and let the Racist scum take away the proud Moment for this Irishman
