VIDEO: Ireland’s Paul McShane was a pointless answer on Pointless

Posted by

Many Irish viewers will be familiar with BBC quiz show Pointless.

The early evening show hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman is a firm favourite, with contestants invited to come up with the most obscure answers possible to trivia questions.

The jackpot is won by coming up with an answer so obscure that not one of 100 members of the British public thought of it – and yesterday one of those answers was our very own Paul McShane.

McShane, who has 31 Republic of Ireland caps, currently plays for Championship side Reading but previously played for Hull City.

One of the categories in the final round was “name a player from Hull City’s promotion winning team of 2013”. When Osman went though a round-up of pointless answers to the question, there was the Irish defender included on the list.

Of course, it was picked up on Twitter.

To be a pointless answer on Pointless, the ultimate humiliation or last word in hipster cool?

Discuss.
