Video: Iranian player produces long throw that makes Rory Delap’s look basic

Iranian player Nader Mohammadi has produced a long thrown in a football game that makes former Stoke City player and long throw specialist, Rory Delap’s, look basic.

The monster throw can be attributed to the somersault that is required to generate the power and the distance Mohammadi sends the ball is staggering.

Rory Delap terrorised defences for years with his long throws and it was a tactic Tony Pulis adopted at every opportunity when he managed Delap at Stoke.

The thing about Mohammadi’s throw is he began inside his own half and sent the ball almost out of play at the opposite end of the pitch.

Mohammadi pulled off the outrageous throw while playing for Paykan FC in a 1-0 loss to Persepolis in the Persian Gulf Pro League.

The 23-year-old knew exactly what was coming as he loaded the cannon and somersaulted the ball right into the opposition box.

A deadly long throw is rare but when used well can give teams all sorts of headaches so we wish 23-year-old Nader Mohammadi all the best with his unique skill.
