Video: Eibar goalkeeper randomly steps up to take penalty and absolutely smashes it

Check out this piece of footballing randomness when Eibar nominated their goalkeeper to take a penalty against Atletico Madrid instead of an outfield player.

La Liga side Eibar have inexplicably put their goalkeeper forward to take a penalty against Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and he didn’t disappoint.

Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dmitrović stepped up to take the spot-kick and he netted his first career goal in eight years in the process.

The big Serb was as cold as ice as he stepped up and one can only assume that his experience of being the man on the other side of penalties played a part.

Dmitrović was up against one of the worlds best and he didn’t flinch as he slotted the ball past Atletico’s shot-stopper.

The reason as to why Eibar sent up Marko Dmitrović is as of this moment unknown but whoever’s idea it was – take a bow –  it worked perfectly.

That’s one way to take the lead against LaLiga leaders Atletico Madrid 😂 pic.twitter.com/pZznk3CPer
