(Video) Angry Manuel Locatelli batters Italy teammate Nicolo Barella with unidentified object from close-range

Manuel Locatelli felt it necessary to batter Italy teammate Nicolo Barella from close-range during his side’s 1-0 victory over Wales.

The midfield duo, who were influential in Italy’s opening two group matches at Euro 2020, were given an opportunity to rest by manager Roberto Mancini for their clash with Wales this evening.

While things ought to have been more serene for them, watching on from the sidelines untroubled, that doesn’t appear to have been the case – as tempers flared on the subs bench.

Barella was caught on film tossing an unidentified object onto Locatelli, something that the Sassuolo midfielder took issue with.

You can only imagine Barella was on the wind-up prior to this particular incident, because Locatelli snapped and launched it into the side of Barella’s head from close-range.

It all seems kind-hearted, but was it really necessary for Locatelli to throw it with such force at the head of his own teammate?
