Sergio Ramos obviously felt his side, plucky underdogs Real Madrid, were going to be under serious pressure to get a home win against giants of European football Shakhtar Donetsk.
Hence why he felt the need to attempt this outrageous piece of play-acting in the first-half of their Champions League encounter last night, despite Real already having a one goal lead.
There is still some justice in the world though, as the Spaniard ended up injuring himself while diving and had to be replaced.
Social media was quickly on the case.

Ramos doesn’t appear bothered by the criticism, tweeting in the last hour to say he was: “Always with a smile, whatever happens. Working hard to come back stronger”.

But he may yet face karmic retribution for the incident. Real Madrid has confirmed he has dislocated his shoulder and faces a race to be fit for the Madrid derby against Atletico at the start of October.
