Tony Bellew like many others is a huge Roy Jones Jr. fan.
On March 1, 2003 the American made the step up to the heavyweight division against John Ruiz who he easily dominated to capture a piece of the world championship (WBA).
That win made him a 4 weight world champion but after that he was never the same.
Shedding the pounds and stepping back down to light-heavyweight proved disastrous and he was brutally knocked out by Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson in 2004.
Despite the loses Bellew still believes he is the greatest of all-time.
Posting on X formerly Twitter he posted:
‘People will never understand why he’s the greatest of all time! Had he retired after this fight it wouldn’t even be a question! I don’t really care about what happened after this! Going back down from HW was a disaster! This is my 🐐 👏👏’
