‘It (his view of Lampard) just got bigger when I received a message today in the morning, a personal message to wish me all the best and maybe meet in the future when this is possible.

‘Honestly, nothing has changed there but in the last 72 hours the club made clear to me this is not my fault. I cannot change the situation for him, the decision was made and I was handed the opportunity. I mean what I say.’

Tuchel’s career at Chelsea manager got off to a mediocre start after his new side finished his first game in charge in a 0-0 draw against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

The result isn’t the end of the world for the German has he literally only had 24 hours to prepare for the game and only managed to squeeze in one training session with his new players before his Premier League management debut.

Unfortunately for the former PSG manager he was unable to inspire his players to victory as Chelsea and Wolves both had to settle for a share of the spoils after their 0-0 stalemate.
