Seedings confirmed for Euro 2016 play-off draw

UEFA have released the seedings for the Euro 2016 play-off draw and, as expected, the possible opponents for the Republic of Ireland are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Sweden and Hungary.

They are the seeded teams for the draw and Martin O’Neill’s men will have to play one of the four teams over two legs between November 12-17.

Ireland’s victory against Germany on October 8 helped secure the play-off place.

The other three teams on our side of the draw are Denmark, Norway and Slovenia.

The draw will take place on Sunday from 11.20CET (10.20am Irish time) and will be streamed live on UEFA.com.

In each case the first side drawn will play the first leg at home.

O’Neill will attend the draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

Speaking today, he said: “We’re in the play-offs now and we’ll have to wait and see what the draw brings us.

“I’m not going to spend the days leading up to Sunday hoping for one team over another.

“Each one of the four seeded teams will present a challenge, and the four unseeded teams also present a severe test for the top four.

“We’re not concerned about whether we’re seeded or unseeded at this stage, and we’re confident to take on anyone.”
