The worst-paid player in the Premier League has been revealed in a report by The Sun.

As BenchWarmers reported last week, reports claim that Dani Alves has returned to Barcelona on wages of like €1-a-week.

That is, by some distance, the lowest reported wage of any top-level player in recent memory. He’s essentially agreed to do his former side an almighty favour.

It has sparked a conversation into underpaid footballers, though, once which has prompted The Sun to investigate who the lowest-paid Premier League player is.

According to their research, Watford defender Jeremy Ngakia, who made 26 appearances for the Hornets last term and already has seven to his name this time around, earns ‘just’ £2.5k-a-week.

As per the report, Ngakia stands alone as the lowest-paid player in the Premier League.

At 21-years-old, you imagine his high-earning days are ahead of him. Even now, he’s not going to starve on £2.5k-a-week, which is CONSIDERABLY above the national average of around £576-a-week.

Still, he ought to get on the phone to his agent and renegotiate, especially with Watford now raking in the lucrative Premier League TV money…
