Manchester City were scheduled to play Everton on Monday and the game was called off after positive results of Covid-19 in one of the squads. News broke on Christmas Day that City players Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker had tested positive for Covid-19 and fans feared the worst, that there was a major outbreak in the squad. Two members of staff also returned positives test with Jesus and Walker.

Sky Sports report that when Guardiola was asked how many players would be missing for his team’s away game to Chelsea on Sunday he replied “Five right now. Five players are isolating for 10 days. The first cases that were released it was two players and three more the second time.”

Due to privacy it seems Pep will not be able to reveal who the 3 new players that tested positive are but he hinted that they are major first team players in his next statement.

He said: “I don’t think the Premier League allow us to name the players. We have to respect the privacy of the players maybe. You will see the line-ups and three important players not there, so you will know exactly but I’m not allowed to tell you.”

Will Many City be able to overcome Frank Lampard’s side if they are missing 5 ‘important’ players? The outbreak in Manchester City’s squad is rumoured to have happened because of a reported 19 player Christmas Party but the reports have not been confirmed. yet
