Ozan Kabak has given details of some of the advice Liverpool powerhouse Virgil van Dijk gave him after his move from Schalke to Liverpool on deadline day in January.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the 20-year-old said: ‘I have met with him,
‘He is a really nice guy, a top person – like his talent! He gave me a lot of help and tips about football. Now he is in rehabilitation but I hope he will be back soon and he will help us on the pitch also.
‘I am looking forward to playing with him, of course, in the defence. He gave me some advice about how Liverpool plays in defence and how we have a high line, so he gave me some tips about how Liverpool play. ‘It’s little things but of course it helps when you play, when you defend.
‘He is such an experienced guy and his words are very valuable for me.’
Since joining Jurgen Klopp’s side Kabak has had a mixed start to life at the club but has helped his side keep clean sheets in recent wins over Sheffield United and RB Leipzig.
Liverpool confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Schalke defender Ozan Kabak on Deadline Day as Jurgen Klopp desperately tried to bolster his defensive options amid an injury crisis.
Liverpool have been hit hard with injuries this season especially in defence with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and makeshift centre-back Jordan Henderson all out of action.
Virgil van Dijk has been out of action since October after he sustained a serious injury in the Merseyside derby following a poor challenge by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
