Newcastle United have reportedly submitted a HUGE bid to sign the highly-rated from Benfica Darwin Núñez.
Núñez left fans across Europe salivating at the mouth on Wednesday night after his quite superb performance in Benfica’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Anfield, during which he got the equalising goal in the 82nd minute of the contest.

He has long been linked with a move to one of Europe’s elite, with the expectation being that he will leave Portugal to sign for one of them this summer, but with Newcastle looking to muscle their way into that top bracket, could they use the race to sign Núñez as a springboard to do so?
The suggestion on Friday afternoon is that the Magpies have made their move to sign the 22-year-old goal machine, with a €60m [£49.6m] bid being made in an ambitious attempt to secure his services.

Whether there’s any truth to those claims and whether Newcastle could plausibly convince Núñez to join are different matters, but we ought to get used to seeing Newcastle battling it out with the big boys in the transfer market for the foreseeable.
