Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark appeared to throw a punch at an opponent while playing for the Magpies in a friendly in Saudi Arabia.
Newcastle, who have recently been purchased by a Saudi consortium, visited the country over the Premier League’s winter break as a way to celebrate the new bond between the club and the Kingdom.
Unfortunately for all involved with the Geordies, the first impression wasn’t a particularly good one, with Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark being sent off for throwing a punch during a FRIENDLY with Al-Ittihad.
Clark was brought to the floor by Al-Ittihad’s Abderrazak Hamdallah before throwing a punch at the player and being handed his marching orders by the no-nonsense referee.
Ciaran Clark red card? 😬#NUFC

With it being such a bad look for Newcastle on their first visit to Saudi Arabia, Clark was sent out to pose alongside Hamdallah and prove there were no hard feelings post-match.
Clearly no hard feelings between Ciaran Clark & Abderazak Hamdallah (Al-Ittihad striker) after the game, not that Eddie Howe will be impressed…#NUFC #Ittihad pic.twitter.com/H8YndX3VUx
