Marcus Rashford replies to racist abuse on social media

Posted by

The 22 year old is a star on and off the pitch as he was awarded an MBE  for his brilliant work helping feed kids all around the country.

Due to his rise in popularity off the pitch, he has become the focus of idiots on the internet who have directed racist abuse at him on social media. He has now replied to them in a blanket post brandishing it as the “social media at its worst”.

He seemed to get the abuse after United’s away draw with Arsenal at the Emirates last night and this was his response.

Many people who would be angry and have every right to be would share the screenshots on their platform to out the racists but Marcus has decided to take the high road and said

“I have beautiful children of all colours following me and they don’t need to read it. Beautiful colours that should only be celebrated.”

Match of the Day were then speaking about the incident after it happened with Ian Wright and Jermaine Jenas calling for accountability from social media platforms and their users.

Will social media change and will people be held accountable for their words online?
