Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he was happy that Manchester United lost to Liverpool because he is a fan of Manchester City.
Pellegrini won the Premier League with City in 2013/14 and wasn’t shy of hiding his allegiances with the blue side of Manchester in his press conference before his Real Betis team take on United this evening in the Europa League Round of 16.
“It really was unbelievable [Liverpool vs United]. I watched the first half only so I didn’t see the other six goals.
“When I saw the result, I was shocked because I know the rivalry between them, so it won’t have been easy for United after that.
“But, I am a Manchester City fan also, so I’m not very sad about what happened.”

Betis are on a good run of form, having not lost in their last four games, winning three and drawing one so they will be very keen to continue heaping misery on United who will no doubt still be reeling from their 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool last weekend.
