(Videos) Carrasco strike and Lukaku STUNNER give Belgium breathing space vs world champions France

Belgium have scored twice in quick succession to give themselves a two-goal buffer in the UEFA Nations League semi-final against France.

The world no. 1 are yet to win a single piece of silverware in this so-called ‘golden generation’ and while the newly-created Nations League is not comparable in terms of prestige to the Euros or World Cup, Belgium will be DESPERATE to win it.

World champions France, despite their premature exit from Euro 2020, were always going to pose a threat to Roberto Martinez’s Red Devils, particularly while fielding a strike force consisting of Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema.

Unfortunately for Les Bleus, it’s their defence that has let them down this evening, with Yannick Carrasco firing into the bottom corner, leaving Hugo Lloris wrong-footed, to give Belgium a first-half advantage in the contest.

Belgium were not done there, either, with Romelu Lukaku adding a brilliant second just a matter of minutes later to stun Didier Deschamps’ men. This is vintage Lukaku – what a finish!

On offer for the victor is a tussle with Spain in the Nations League final, with Luis Enrique’s men having defeated European champions Italy on Wednesday night, ending their three-year long unbeaten run.
