Kai Havertz’s replacement is already breaking Bundesliga records at 17

Bayer Leverkusen seem to have found themselves in a win-win situation after selling star man Kai Havertz to Chelsea for £72m according to Transfermarkt.

They decided to promote youngster Florian Wirtz into the first team, to take Kai Havertz’s place and he has fit perfectly into Kai’s place and is already breaking records in the league.

The two players are attacking midfielders with Kai just four years older than Florian but Wirtz is already putting his stamp on the Bundesliga at just 17 years old.

Kai had an outstanding season in the Bundesliga for 2019/20, registering 12 goals and six assists in 30 games. Well Florian already has five goals and five assists from 18 appearances and has goals in other competitions as well.

Today he became the first player to score five Bundesliga goals before becoming 18 years old so the future is bright for the young German who was only promoted to the first team from the Under-19s at the very start of the season.

Leverkusen could be on track to make another amazing sell to a top European club or Florian could be on his way to making Leverkusen formidable opponents in Europe.

Since leaving the Bundesliga club, Kai has not had the same luck as Wirtz as he has featured 18 times for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, registering one goal and three assists.

Not what you expect from a £72m signing.
