Chelsea have suffered a massive injury blow ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Levi Colwill will miss most of the next season after undergoing ACL surgery.

The defender sustained the horror injury during Chelsea’s first training session of pre-season following their Club World Cup triumph.

Enzo Maresca has done a brilliant job so far, as Chelsea won the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Blues will also play in the Champions League next season.

Chelsea have already signed Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Estevao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, and Kendry Paez. Maresca has hinted that they could be looking to delve into the transfer market to sign a new defender after Colwill’s injury.

A statement read: “Chelsea Football Club has released the following update regarding Levi Colwill…

“Defender Levi Colwill has today undergone successful surgery to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The 22-year-old had reported back to Cobham for pre-season at the start of this week, before unfortunately sustaining the injury in training.”

Chelsea have signed teenager Jorrel Hato from Ajax, who can play at centre-back as well as left-back.

Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badishile are their other current options.
