Jurgen Klopp has responded to the rumours that began circulating on Saturday after Liverpool’s loss to Leicester City that he is leaving.
Last Saturday Liverpool lost 3-1 to Leicester City in the Premier League, a result which affectively ended the Reds hopes of retaining the Premier League trophy.
Following the result the rumour mill went into overdrive and reports began to circulate that Jurgen Klopp was going to step down, he needed a break and even that he was going to get the sack.
Such was the coverage of the rumours some concerned Liverpool fans erected a sign outside Anfield in support of their under pressure which said ‘Jurgen Klopp YNWA.’
During his press conference ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Budapest to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League the German boss was quick to put to bed any rumours concerning his job.
Klopp was asked if he had seen the sign and what he thought about the rumours relating to his position at the club, the 53-year-old said: “I heard about both. I don’t feel I need special support in the moment but it is nice. Rumours of me quitting or taking break? Neither.
“Did I get the sack or did I leave by myself? I don’t need a break. Everyone knows privately it has been tough time but it wasn’t just last three weeks, it was longer before that. We always deal with it as a family 100%.
“Thanks for all the support, people tell me about it. I am very grateful for it. But they can think about other things as nobody needs to worry about me.”
Liverpool are currently preparing for their Champions League clash with German side RB Leipzig which will take place in Budapest due to flights from the UK being banned from entering Germany due to Covid-19 restrictions.
