Jose Mourinho comments on speculation linking him with the Everton managerial role

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has officially ruled himself out of the running to become the next Everton manager.

Mourinho was dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the 2021 Carabao Cup final. That left him without a job heading into the summer, until he got the call from AS Roma to return to Italy and become their new manager.

The Special One’s debut campaign in Rome has been a mixed bag, but they remain in touch with the top four in Serie A and will keep dreaming of the possibility of securing Champions League qualification.

The Roma fans will have been concerned to see their manager linked with the Everton post after Rafa Benitez’s dismissal, but Mourinho does not appear to have much interest in moving to Goodison Park at this point in time.

With Mourinho being so early on in his reign in Rome, it would not have been a particularly good look for him if he were to abandon the project after giving his word to the club’s hierarchy.

Everton are also lingering precariously above the relegation zone in the Premier League. Considering the dire nature of the football they played under Benitez, whoever the new manager will be really has his work cut out.
