Tottenham look to steal a march on competitors with January swoop for Serie A star

Tottenham are considering a January swoop for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, according to the Telegraph.

Kessie, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been a key figure in the resurgence of the Rossoneri. In doing so, he has established himself among the finest midfielders on the planet.

However, the Ivorian has been unable to reach an agreement with Milan to extend his contract, and with there now being just six months until he is free to leave on a Bosman, there is a major question mark hanging over his future.

According to claims made by the Telegraph, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham may look to jump the queue to sign Kessie by offering Milan a sum of cash this month to get the deal done ahead of time.

From Milan’s perspective, that’d see them receive at least some money in exchange for a player who will soon be leaving on a free. Tottenham would also fend off what would likely be intense competition in the summertime.

The two key factors here are whether Kessie wants to leave the San Siro or would rather sign a new contract – and, of course, if he has the remotest interest in playing for Tottenham. That ought to become clear soon.
