Joao Cancelo was sent off in Manchester City’s clash with Fulham in highly controversial circumstances.
Despite Arsenal’s early season form, Man City are still considered the firm favourites to go all the way in the Premier League this campaign, again.
All Arsenal can do is continue winning games and hope that City drop points – and it’s going pretty well for them on that front.
City, at the time of writing, are being held 1-1 to newly-promoted Fulham at the Etihad – and get this, they’re also down to ten men.
Joao Cancelo was attempting to marshal the ball back into Ederson’s hands and shoulder-barged Harry Wilson to prevent him from nipping in.
We thought that shoulder-barging was legal in football, and while this was a rather forceful one, we’re not sure that it warranted a red card and a penalty kick.
It’s a harsh one from the referee, whose decision was upheld by VAR, making it all the more contentious.
Was this a red card? Was it even a penalty? Has the game gone mad? Let us know what you think…

Shoulder charges are meant to be shoulder to shoulder, this was clearly in the back so is a foul and as it denied a goal scoring opportunity the ref is correct in sending off.
