Manchester City have retaken the lead over Liverpool through surprise selection Gabriel Jesus.
City took the lead with just five minutes on the clock after Kevin De Bruyne thumped the ball into Joel Matip and gratefully saw it nestle in the bottom corner, via the goalpost.
Liverpool responded just seven minutes later through Diogo Jota, who found himself with a yard of space inside the penalty area and slid the ball under City keeper Ederson.
City remained on top, with Liverpool’s high line being exposed on numerous occasions, before Gabriel Jesus restored the champions’ lead to put them in the ascendancy in the match and the title race.
Jesus, who wasn’t expected to start this fixture, but does have a good goal-scoring record against Liverpool, timed his run to perfection and knocked the ball past Alisson Becker.
