Paul Dunne’s US Amateur Championship campaign is over after the Irishman lost his quarter-final meeting with Bryson DeChambeau.
The 22-year-old from Greystones, who held a share of the lead after three rounds of last month’s Open Championship, lost 3&2 to US Walker Cup star DeChambeau, who made six birdies at Olympia Fields yesterday.
Dunne could only hit three fairways and seven greens and just about managed to stay in contention over the back nine thanks to a run of crucial putts.
