There was a huge amount of complaints came into RTE and The Late Late Show on Friday evening as one of the most famous Christmas songs fairytale of New York was butchered as Imelda May and Glen Hansard attempted to sing it.
That’s what people online were saying, awful shame to see this as both Imelda May and Glen Hansard are great artists in their own right. Guess some songs just shouldn’t be touched and leave it to the original… See some of the comments online.

It never truly feels like Christmas until you hear someone butcher Fairytale of New York on the Late Late Show. https://t.co/NURZ7JqpSD

The Late Late Show should release a 'Butchered Hits' album.
1. Glen & Imelda – 'Fairytale of New York'
2. Linda Martin – 'Get Lucky'
3. Brian McFadden & Keith Duffy – Every song they ever sang
4. Annie Murphy – 'Casey, Casey you're a divil'
5. Twink – 'Zip up your mickey remix' pic.twitter.com/JVKpUzbAmg— Stevie Cahill (@StevieCahill) December 17, 2022
The Late Late Show is really a show that belongs in the past… It was Gay Byrne’s show and Pat Kenny did a decent job of it. But that Ryan Tubridy is after taking it to the dogs. Not up to the gig at all I’m afraid..
