“It’s no secret” – Eddie Hearn names fighter who doesn’t work as hard as his counterparts

Boxing promotor Eddie Hearn has questioned the commitment of lightweight contender Ryan Garcia.

Garcia has been ranked among the most promising up and coming fighters, certainly in his division. However, there has been some concern that the American has taken his eye off the ball, so to speak.

The 23-year-old has, at times, been guilty of mixing with the wrong crowd and has seemingly prioritised his popularity on social media over what could potentially be an excellent career in the sport.

Eddie Hearn, who has seen fighters rise and fall during his time in the promoting business, is the latest person to question Garcia’s commitment. He told the DAZN Boxing Show (quoted by boxingnews24):

“I think it’s no secret in the sport of boxing that from a dedication point of view, Ryan Garcia is not the top of that list.”

“The reality is he doesn’t work as hard as a lot of fighters, and one of those being Canelo Alvarez.”

Garcia is still very young and to boast a record of 21-0, with 18 wins by way of knockout, at his tender age is impressive.

His triumph over Luke Campbell earlier in the year cemented himself among the strongest contenders in the lightweight division, but there have been concerns that he’s lost his way a little since.

All he needs is a little direction to get himself back on track. Surrounding himself with the right people will do that for him, and a few years down the line, those who doubted him could look very silly.
