Harry Kane leaves door open to summer move away from Tottenham

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has appeared to leave the door open to an exit from the club – but not until after the summer’s European Championships.

Kane is one of the best strikers on the planet, and all due respect to Spurs, their quality across the pitch is not sufficient to be playing at the level where he belongs.

The England forward is Tottenham’s skipper and one of their greatest of all-time. With that brings responsibility, with part of that being showing a certain degree of loyalty.

Kane has, down the years, been nothing but committal to Spurs, but this is perhaps the first time we have heard him tentatively admit that he’s willing to entertain offers from elsewhere.

The 27-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports revealing that he will not allow himself to become distracted by the speculation, but after the Euros are done and dusted, “we’ll see”.

“It’s important that all my focus is on the two England games coming up now and the rest of the season with Spurs and then the Euros. To be thinking about speculation or rumours would be damaging in terms of my own performance.”

Harry Kane has outgrown Tottenham and could leave this summer.

“I always like to be focused on one goal and one job and that’s to finish strong with Spurs, win these qualifiers with England and hopefully go on and have a great Euros. Look, I try to stay out of that speculation as much as possible.”

“I’m fully focussed on doing the job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer, and then we’ll see where we go from there.”

The real question is regarding who would pay up to sign Kane, and how much Spurs would demand in exchange for him.

The two Manchester clubs, who are both in need of a striker, look like the two most plausible destinations, but Daniel Levy would likely demand an astronomical amount before agreeing to sell to either of them.
