Gremio’s U16 side have beaten the Brazil women’s national team 6-0 in a 60 minute practice match as the Selecao prepare for the upcoming Olympic football tournament in Tokyo.
The match was arranged to give the Brazil women’s national team some playing time ahead of their trip to Tokyo for the Olympics later this year.

According to Brazilian website Otempo the game was broken down into two halves of 30 minutes which saw the young Gremio side emerge victorious.
Brazil were by no means playing a weakened team as six-time FIFA best women’s player and World Cup record goalscorer Marta featured for the Olympic hopefuls.
Youngsters Daniel, Nathan, Lucas Canigia and Hiago were all on target for Gremio with Daniel bagging himself a hat-trick.

Following the game Brazil women’s coach Pia Sundhage told Otempo: “This training game was important for several reasons, firstly, due to the challenge of playing speed in this male category, they are very fast.
According to Gremio’s website, the Gremista girls (women’s side) will face the Brazil women’s national team next in another training game on January 18th as the Selecao try and get as many minutes as they can under their belts before the tournament this summer.
The Women’s Olympic football tournament is scheduled to take place on July 21st – August 6th.
