Former Liverpool player, Didi Hamann has claimed that it’s like having ten men on the pitch when Erling Haaland plays for Manchester City.

Since arriving in the Premier League last summer, the Norwegian striker has been breathtaking and currently boasts an astonishing 26 goals in the league alone. But despite his obvious and immediate impact, Manchester City seems to be far from their usual brilliant selves this season.

This has led to a handful of fans and pundits criticising Haaland and claiming that he doesn’t contribute enough in the all-around game.

Now former Liverpool and Manchester City player, Hamann has claimed that when he’s in the team, “it’s like playing with ten men.”

“Last season, when everyone said he’s going to City, I said ‘he’s not going to go to City because Haaland is everything City’s not’.

“Maybe you can say he’s the missing piece of the jigsaw but he’s used to football in Salzburg and Dortmund which is so much different from the one City plays.

“It’s just not possible because Guardiola’s philosophy is he wants to pass the ball, he wants to suffocate teams with possession and dominance and they just won’t do it with him because half the time I watch him, it’s like playing with ten men.”
