Erik ten Hag reveals what the referee told him about controversial decision

The Manchester United manager revealed what the referee told him after being asked about Marcus Rashford’s foul.

Manchester United and Barcelona drew 2-2 at Camp Nou with both sides feeling like they did enough to walk away with the win.

The La Liga leaders took the lead through Marcos Alonso before Marcus Rashford tied it up 1-1 with a tremendous finish at a tight angle. The English winger then went on to make the second goal, putting in a cross which was diverted into the back of his own net by Jules Kounde.

Raphina then rescued a point late on when his sharp cross snuck past David De Gea in goal.

But there was a controversial moment during the game, Rashford was played through in on goal but was fouled by Kounde as he approached the box, the referee however, waved play on.

Speaking after the match, Erik ten Hag revealed what the referee said about the incident when questioned.

“The refereeing had a big influence in this game,” Ten Hag said.

“I asked the referee why. So he said it was outside the box and it was no foul. And the linesman and referee were in a very good position to see and I think we had VAR.

“I think it’s not good, it was a really bad decision. I can’t understand.”

The two teams will battle it out again next week but this time at Old Trafford.
