England fall in world rankings after historic defeat to Scotland in Six Nations

England rugby have dropped to third place in the World Rugby rankings following their shock defeat to Scotland in the Six Nations, reports Wales Online.

The loss was England’s first defeat to Scotland at Twickenham since 1983 and it has cost them second place in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings, with the All Blacks now the closest team to South Africa.

Eddie Jones’ side dropped two rating points after the shock defeat to Scotland on the opening weekend of the Six Nations, which now leaves England one-and-a-half points behind the All Blacks in third.

Wales have also moved in the rankings following their titanic 21-16 victory over Ireland on Sunday afternoon which not only got their Six Nations campaign off to a good start but it also boosted their world ranking, according to Wales Online.

Wales slumped from fourth in the world to ninth after a dismal 2020 but following a tense victory over Ireland Wayne Pivac’s side have overtaken Argentina to take eighth spot.
