Committee chair John McGuinness has confirmed members will formally invite AIB to appear before TDs and senators to discuss general issues around debt write-downs and the formula the bank applies to each case.

  1. I had shares in AIB worth 20,000 when the crash came. All my shares were whittled down to two shares. I got a cheque for 7 cents from them last year as the holder of two shares. I am almost 80 years old and I have 40,000 in AIB to bury me and give the remainder towards my grand childrens education . I am taking it out of AIB to day and going to put it in the credit union today. Gangsters is all they are.

    1. Isn’t it amazing how things never change,The working people were used as pawns to bail out these corrupt banks, and their children and grand children will have this burden to deal with.I wonder how many more DJs are there out there who all got this deal, how many big developers availed of it and now the banks wants to up the salaries of the those at the top to what it was pre crash. If you phone AIB to make a query all you get are machines they only want our money but don’t want us.

He said that “the process seeks to exhaust all appropriate avenues to realise value for the bank from any available secured assets” and that “it also may take account of third-party certification as to a borrower’s income and asset status and may also consider other documentation relating to the borrower’s personal circumstances”
