BBC Sport’s Garth Crooks has been slated by fans after omitting Mohamed Salah from his Team of the Year.
Crooks is frequently causing fury among the fans as a result of his bizarre Team of the Week selections.
It’s not only the personnel but also the formations. He continually fields players in rather strange places in his hypothetical XIs, leaving readers scratching their heads.
Perhaps his most puzzling decision of all-time, however, has been to leave Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah out of his 2021 Team of the Year, as shown below…

No Salah immediately renders this irrelevant. Ridiculous. Unbelievable disrespect. Please Garth don’t let us hear you say anything about AFCON now, you’ve left out Africa’s best player.

The forward line he has selected of Bukayo Saka, Michail Antonio and Phil Foden have all performed commendably this year, but none have produced Salah’s level of performances.
The Egyptian is far and away the best player in the Premier League and has proven that week-in, week-out over the course of the calendar year. His omission makes no sense at all.
There will be those that argue Crooks has only left him out to provoke a reaction, but considering the previous offences next to his name, we think he’s just made a stinker of a decision here…
