Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal that is on course to be completed when the January transfer window opens.
The Blues are the reigning champions of Europe and currently sit top of the Premier League table. On the surface of it, January reinforcements shouldn’t be required.
However, all of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta are out of contract come June 2022.
All four will be free to pen pre-contract agreements with any interested parties come January, so Chelsea would be wise to be proactive when it comes to creating contingency plans.
According to CNN Turk, they have been, having agreed a deal to sign Hungary international Attila Szalai from Fenerbahce when the January window opens.

As per the report, Chelsea will pay Fenerbahce €23.4m [£20m] to get the deal done, with personal terms already having been agreed with the player himself.
If the news is true, it would be fair to assume that Chelsea are not particularly confident about their chances of tying all four of their contract rebels down before the season’s end.
